“Mama Said” – The Shirelles

Post-Mother’s Day:  Songs about Mom Day 4

“Mama Said there’d be days like these.”  I’m not sure if my mom did tell about finding someone to love.  That is until I started reaching an age that I should be producing grandchildren.  Sorry, mom.  She did tell me that bad grades are not the way to success.  Sorry, mom.  Despite my good grades…

Anyway, moms always offer advice and warnings.  Whether we listen to them is a whole different story. (Click to watch/listen)

“The Vampire Diaries” Season Finale: Biggest Game Changer of the Series Yet

TV Review: “THE VAMPIRE DIARIES”

Network: THE CW
Airs: Thursday at 8PM EST

***This Article Contains MAJOR Spoilers***

Holy crap. Where do I even begin? If you read my TVD article back in December, you’ll know I am a huge fan of the show. In fact, I’ve become quite the advocate, convincing friends and you E&R readers to tune in because it’s that good. You can check out my Top 5 Reasons to watch by clicking here. One of the greatest things about The Vampire Diaries is its ability to continuously top itself so effortlessly. The show is known for its twists and cliffhangers written so masterfully you are constantly guessing and never see what’s actually coming. TVD consistently introduces new and exciting elements to the series that allows for the show to go to new levels in storytelling. And that is what the show has managed to do yet again in the mind-blowing, brilliantly epic season 3 finale that aired this past Thursday. To be honest with you, I really enjoyed Season 3. But I didn’t love it as much watching week after week as I did previous seasons because it was a little hard to figure out exactly where they were planning on taking the show. Read More…

“A Song For Mama” – Boyz II Men

Post-Mother’s Day:  Songs about Mom Day 3

I’d like to thank Bentley8620 for reminding me about this one.  So here it is: the tearjerker written by Babyface from the 1997 Boyz II Men Evolution.  The R&B quartet brings their signature harmonies to subject of a son’s love for the maternal.  “Your love is like tears from the stars.”  Corny? Absolutely.  But, who cares?  So are Mother’s Day cards and moms love those. (Click to watch/listen)

“Oh, Mother of Mine” – The Temptations

Post-Mother’s Day:  Songs about Mom Day 2

Check out this first single from the legendary Motown group The Temptations.  I’ll let it speak for itself, as I feel most Motown songs do well.  But before I do, remember we all “need your advice mama” … from time to time. (Click to watch/listen)

Television Week in Review:
5.7 – 5.13.12

The Amazing Race (CBS) closes out its most recent season with a couple of firsts. Sending the remaining teams to good ol’ Hawaii for the final leg, Rachel and Dave are the first team to the finish line but learn they haven’t yet won because they didn’t complete the second Road Block task. Oops! They then have to go back and finish the sledding challenge they missed, and they end up being the winners anyway. In addition to winning the green, they also become the winningest team for individual legs in TAR history. Big Brother duo Brendon and Rachel finish third.

CBS’ freshman comedy 2 Broke Girls ends the season with a trip to a swanky ball where they meet domestic queen Martha Stewart. We also learn Johnny is engaged. Lame! #TeamMax Read More…

“Dear Mama” – 2Pac

Post-Mother’s Day:  Songs about Mom Day 1

One of 2Pac’s greatest songs in my opinion.  It is truly heartfelt, filled with regret, understanding, maturity, and acceptance.  In one of hip-hops greatest love songs and tributes Pac tells the story of his and his mother’s “beef” and how they overcame.  The epistolary ode is a truly beautifully written song.  Happy Mother’s Day to all the Mom’s out there.  “There’s no way I can pay you back / But the plan is to show you that I understand / You are appreciated” (Click to watch/listen)
